The company fully accepts and recognises its duty of care towards the community with regard to Health & Safety responsibilities. A dedicated team is employed to focus on compliance with legislation and the latest methods of "best practice" to ensure that our employees and the community are safe when in contact with our business.
The importance of continual improvement, risk assessment and adequate training is acknowledged. An ongoing program of instruction using internal resources and external consultants ensures competence and understanding.
Encouragement of "stakeholder involvement" through local liaison committees, school educational visits and participation through the Quarry Products Association help to inform the community about the potential dangers at quarries and plants. A recognition of our responsibility to warn and inform is taken on board.
Under the COSHH requirements our products are analysed to identify the composition, ingredients and potential hazards associated with the product. Helpful first aid measures and handling/storage advice is provided. Data sheets are available on request from our Health and Safety Office at our Head Office address.
JCL have a proven track record in the handling, transportation and land-filling of waste. The company employs three WAMITAB qualified waste managers to ensure that the company and its customers are compliant in all respects.
In 2003 the Company won a national award dedicated to recognising good health and safety practice through innovation and recently a team of senior managers from the company collected Frank Davis trophy at the Health and Safety Best Practice Awards during the Quarry Products Association ceremony.
