Small shingle/gravel (6/10mm)

tonnes

NB: The calculated amount is rounded up to the nearest full tonne.
These figures are based on damp materials but are dependent on moisture content and may vary by 10%.

Example

5 cubic metres of 20mm ballast will require a purchase of 9 tonnes (to the nearest full tonne). In very wet conditions this may increase to 10 tonnes due to the added weight of water within the ballast.

  • These are approximate values and we would suggest that you call our sales office to obtain an exact weight once you have used the calculator to establish the amount required.
  • Don't forget that the hole you want to fill will probably not be dead flat and level so it may be best to overestimate rather than run short.
  • If you are purchasing gravel for a driveway it may be a good idea to order extra for topping up once the material has settled and compacted.
